Large grouping to Helmut LOHOFF who served in JG 51 during the BAttle of Britain (shot down a Lysander on May 22, 1940) and JG 77. Award documents include his : IRON CROSS SECOND CLASS (Dec, 1939), SUDETENLAND m. SPANGE, FLIGHT CLASP FOR FIGHTER IN GOLD!!, PILOTS BADGE (Aug 1938 - early!), large formal promotion document to Oberlt., large formal promotion document to Leutnant., and a scarce wartime printed history of JG 77!!! He also was awarded the GERMAN CROSS IN GOLD, but the document is not here. Also his military discharge, and telegram. Album is huge with 300 photos!! Excellent photos from his training through combat. Photos of him wearing medals, standing beside his Me 109, photo of the tail of his Me 109 after his first victory during the BoB!!, French tanks, other pilots on airfields, Fernch planes, photos from in flight, photos from his operations in the Poland campaign, portrait photos of the man, wounded loaded onto Ju 52, two original photos of GALLAND visiting the unit, photo of his crashed and destroyed Me 109 he had to parachute from!!, Me 109's under camo nets on airfields, unit mascots ( he indicates he flew with him in his plane!), unit emblems on Me 109 planes, good images of JG 2 Me 10's on airfield with unit emblems, and more. All meticulously captioned throughout. reads like a diary! Documents include his wedding announcement, two POW postcard he sent back from soviet POW camp (he says in album that he had to crash land his plane behind enemy lines at Sytschewka, near Rzhev, resulting in his capture in 1942). letter stating that he volunteered for military service on Jan 4, 1936. Congratulations latter from Adjutant of JG 77 on his new assignment, Happy Birthday letter folrm commander of Flieger Ausb Rgt 33, also comes with a letter signed by OAKLEAVES Winner Karlfried Nordmann (78 victories), and Richard Leppla RK winner with 68 victories!
