WWI Named American Navy Photo Album
– Uniform - Document Grouping.
Nice complete WWI Naval grouping to
a Machinist Mate in the American
Navy who served aboard the Destroyer
U.S.S. Flusser DD-20 during WWI. The
Flusser had escort duty on the East
Coast until 30 July 1917, when she
departed Charleston for two months
of ocean escort and patrol duty
based on Ponta Delgada, Azores. She
had similar duty out of Brest,
France, operating across the English
Channel from 22 October-9 December
1918, returning to Charleston on 31
December. She was decommissioned at
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 14
July 1919, and sold on 21 November.
The group consists of his WWI
Sailors Uniform with Shirt, Pants,
Neckerchief and Cap Tally that can
be seen with him wearing it in a
large period photo in its original
frame as well as it being worn in a
hand made embroidered commemorative
keepsake. The documents are various
letters home dated 1918, the ships
log diary of his accounts and
actions of the U.S.S. Flusser all
which is contained in an album that
is named to the U.S.S. Flusser that
has over 120 photos and postcards
depicting time underway at sea,
shipboard life, friends, other Navy
ships and various ports of call.
