The President of the United
States of America,
authorized by Act of
Congress July 9, 1918, takes
pleasure in presenting the
Silver Star to Private First
Class Pedro B. Yrigollen (ASN:
38442712), United States
Army, for gallantry in
action while serving with
the 80th Infantry Division
in connection with military
operations against an enemy
of the United States on 27
January 1945 in Luxembourg.
While advancing on Hosingen,
Luxembourg, on 27 January
1945, Private First Class
Yrigollen, an assistant
automatic rifleman, was
wounded severely yet
continued to fight and when
isolated with a small group
of men he assumed command
and led them on to capture
six prisoners and finally to
withdraw taking all the
wounded with him in an
orderly manner. The courage,
leadership, and zealous
devotion to duty displayed
by Private First Class
Yrigollen were in keeping
with the highest traditions
of the military service and
reflect great credit upon
himself, his unit and the
United States Army.
